Nearly all foods are complex substances, and they differ from one another in what is known as their value, which is measured by the work the food does in the body either as a tissue builder or as a producer of energy. However, in considering food value, the person who prepares food must not lose sight of the fact that the individual appetite must be appealed to by a sufficient variety of appetizing foods. There would be neither economy nor advantage in serving food that does not please those who are to eat it.

While all foods supply the body with energy, they differ very much in the quantity they yield. If certain ones were chosen solely for that purpose, it would be necessary for any ordinary person to consume a larger quantity of them than could be eaten at any one time. For instance, green vegetables furnish the body with a certain amount of energy, but they cannot be eaten to the exclusion of other things, because no person could eat in a day a sufficient amount of them to give the body all the energy it would need for that day’s work. On the other hand, certain foods produce principally building material, and if they were taken for the purpose of yielding only energy, they would be much too expensive. Meats, for example, build up the body, but a person’s diet would cost too much if meat alone were depended on to provide the body with all the energy it requires. Many foods, too, contain mineral salts, which, as has been pointed out, are needed for building tissue and keeping the body in a healthy condition.

To come to a correct appreciation of the value of different foods, it is necessary to understand the unit employed to measure the amount of work that foods do in the body. This unit is the CALORIE, and it is used to measure foods just as the inch, the yard, the pound, the pint, and the quart are the units used to measure materials and liquids; however, instead of measuring the food itself, it determines its food value, or fuel value. To illustrate what is meant, consider, for instance, / ounce of sugar and / ounce of butter. As far as the actual weight of these two foods is concerned, they are equal; but with regard to the work they do in the body they differ considerably. Their relative value in the body, however, can be determined if they are measured by some unit that can be applied to both. It is definitely known that both of them produce heat when they are oxidized, that is, when they are combined with oxygen; thus, the logical way of measuring them is to determine the quantity of heat that will be produced when they are eaten and united with oxygen, a process that causes the liberation of heat. The calorie is the unit by which this heat can be measured, it being the quantity of heat required to raise the temperature of pint of water degrees Fahrenheit, which is the name of the thermometer commonly used in the home. When burned as fuel, a square of butter weighing / ounce produces enough heat to raise pint of water degrees Fahrenheit, and it will yield the same amount of heat when it is eaten and goes through the slow process of oxidation in the body. On the other hand, / ounce of sugar upon being oxidized will produce only enough heat to raise the temperature of pint of water about degrees Fahrenheit. Thus, as will be seen, / ounce of butter has a value of approximately calories, whereas / ounce of sugar contains only about -/ calories.

Other foods yield heat in varying degrees, and their food value is determined in exactly the same way as that of butter and sugar. To give an idea of the composition of various food materials, as well as the number of calories that pound of these food materials will yield, food charts published by the United States Department of Agriculture are here presented. As an understanding of these charts will prove extremely profitable in the selection of food, a careful study of them at this time is urged. In addition, reference to them should be made from time to time as the various kinds of foods are taken up, as the charts will then be more easily comprehended and their contents of more value.

A drug-food interaction occurs most commonly when the consumption of a specific food or beverage affects the activity of a drug or consumption of the drug affects the activity of the food or overall nutritional status.

When a food alters a drug’s activity or vice versa, the affected compound is changed in aspects of how quickly or how much of it gets absorbed into the body, how much of it distributes to it’s site of action, and how quickly it gets broken down or passed out from the body. Such drug-food interactions may result in the individual experiencing side effects, toxicity or not getting full benefit from the drug or food.

In altering the absorption of drugs, foods may bind with the drug, change the acidity of the stomach, moderate the contractions of stomach muscles or change the speed at which stomach contents move through the body. Dietary fibre in the form of pectin and other soluble fibres can slow down the absorption of Tylenol (acetaminophen). Almost half of a single dose of the antibiotic Zithromax (azithromycin) does not get absorbed when it is taken with food. When another antibiotic ciprofloxacin is taken with iron, a complex is formed and about half of a single dose also becomes unavailable for absorption. One of the most significantly food-affected drugs is Fosamax (alendronate) where up to 99.9% of an oral tablet can become unavailable for absorption if taken with food, coffee or orange juice. Sometimes increased benefit is derived from taking certain medicines with food. Taking the statin Mevacor (lovastatin) with food enhances it’s absorption while taking non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs like aspirin with food can help to reduce stomach irritation.

Different drinks can alter the breakdown of a drug in the body. Components of grapefruit juice can inhibit enzymes in the liver from breaking down a variety of drugs. Taking grapefruit juice while on the heart drug felodipine results in much less of the drug broken down and this can cause lower blood pressure and faster heart rates than otherwise expected. The heart drug Inderal (propranolol) can escape early breakdown in the liver when it is taken with food hence it’s effectiveness could be increased.

One important class of drugs known as monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) can inhibit body enzymes from breaking down a compound known as tyramine. This compound can be found in aged cheese, pickled fish, yeast extracts, red wine, fava beans and fermented products, and can accumulate in the body if taken with MAOIs and the combination could result in critically high blood pressure.

Milk, vegetables and citrus fruits can reduce the acidity of urine while meats, fish, cheese and eggs often increase the acidity of urine. These different effects can affect the quantity and rate of expulsion of certain drugs. Other drugs may be more or less active in the urinary system depending on the urine acidity. The mood controlling drug known as lithium is affected by a high salt (sodium chloride) diet because it competes with sodium for absorption back into the body from the kidney. With a high salt diet, more lithium is passed out and lithium is consequently less active in the body. The converse occurs with a low salt diet.

Some foods can directly affect the action of drugs without affecting the drugs themselves. Taking a lot of green leafy vegetables or green tea can increase vitamin K levels in the body that counteract the effects of the anticoagulant drug warfarin. Taking a lot of bananas while on the potassium-sparing water pills Aldactone (spironolactone) can result in excessive amounts of potassium in the body that can be toxic. Alcohol can increase the drowsiness and reduced concentration associated with sleeping pills, antidepressants and allergy medicines. Another potentiating effect can occur when the asthma drug theophylline is taken with coffee. The caffeine in coffee shares the same structure as theophylline and helps with expanding the airways but also can increase theophylline’s side effects of nervousness, tremor or insomnia.

While most drug-food interactions can be detrimental, some have been used under supervised treatment to reduce drug doses and associated costs. Oncologists recently found that taking the breast cancer drug Tykerb (lapatinib) with food instead of without food as suggested by the drug development trials almost doubled the absorption of the drug and taking it with a high-fat meal tripled the absorption. Grapefruit juice may even further prevent the drug from being broken down in the body so that more of the dose remains available to fight cancer cells. While this is a novel and potentially useful means of taking food and drugs together for better treatment, expert supervision is important in ensuring benefit and minimizing undesirable effects.

Even while much of the concern over drug-food interactions center around how foods affect the activity of drugs, many drugs also expected to exert significant effects on foods, body nutrients and byproducts. The weight loss drug Xenical (orlistat) is taken specifically with meals to interact with the fat in food so that it is not absorbed and passes out in the stools. Colestid (colestipol) and Questran (cholestyramine) are taken orally to bind bile acids in the intestine preventing such acids from being recirculated in the body and thereby reducing cholesterol. Another drug acting on food is Fosrenol (lanthanum carbonate) that is used to bind and prevent the absorption of phosphates in the diet.

Some drugs can also affect nutritional well being resulting in the need for food or nutrient supplementation. Examples include taking certain antacids and water pills that can lead to nutrient deficiencies resulting in muscle weakness and other related symptoms. Folic acid supplementation may be required if on the anticonvulsant Dilantin (phenytoin). Zinc deficiency coupled with the loss of taste can occur when on the antirheumatic penicillamine.

Drug-food interactions are becoming increasingly common and can be detrimental if not well understood or properly managed. Pharmacists are the experts to turn to for a better understanding and are in the best position to advise on optimum management.

In March 2007, most pet owners grew very concerned about the food they were feeding their dogs and cats with the announced melamine-poisoned foods on the market. Being “mom” to my adorable and, I thought, very well-cared for King Charles Spaniel, I watched the lists daily with worry. I had believed the food I was feeding him was high quality and safe, yet I visited their website daily for reassurance. And daily I read that the food was safe, they didn’t use products from China, trust them.

My dog started to experience diarrhea the day we moved to a new home. Being a sensitive soul for whom stress has this effect, I didn’t worry much until day 3 when it not only continued but seemed to worsen. Again, I checked the websites to see if his food was on any of the recall lists. It wasn’t. That night I had the news on in the background, sitting straight up when the latest list was announced – his food, the food that “had never used products from China”, was on the list. They lied.

I had been poisoning my beloved best friend.

Of course, I immediately disposed of the poisoned garbage and the next day, started cooking for my dog, thinking it would be temporary until the problems were resolved. I began to research what my dog needed nutritionally to make sure I was giving him everything he required to be healthy and happy.

It was that research that shocked me, then just made me furious beyond description. I found out what was really in dog food (and cat food and other pet foods), and it is disgusting, dangerous and poison garbage even without the melamine. I was sickened by what I learned, knowing I had been feeding this to my pets for years, thinking I was doing right by them with the “high-quality” foods I paid premium price for. Not any more. Never again.

Here are some of the “quality” ingredients in your pet’s food:

“meat and poultry by-products” is material that comes from the slaughterhouse and dead animals, such as road kill and euthanized companion animals, classified as condemned and unfit for human consumption. It includes lungs (even when filled with pneumonia), spleen, brains, livers (including those infested with worms), bone, beaks, feet, heads, cancerous tissues… the list goes on. Be assured, if it is remotely fit for human consumption, it isn’t in your pet’s food.

“meat and bone meal” is the ground refuse from restaurants and grocery stores, dead stock, road kill, euthanized animals, including stomach contents, blood and hooves, cooked until the grease from it rises where it is removed and the moisture squeezed out. It also may contain foreign materials such as metals, hair, glass, mold, pesticide contamination and more.

Fat is usually listed high on the ingredients in pet foods that give off an appealing odor so that our pets will eat the garbage. They are made up of rancid restaurant grease and rendered refuse often filled with impurities such as hair, hide, bone, dirt or polyethylene.

Corn flour, corn bran, corn gluten meal are the corn products left when all the nutritious ingredients, used in human products, are removed.

Wheat flour, wheat germ meals, are nothing more than what is swept off the mill floors after everything has been processed.

Artificial colors, flavors, sweeteners and preservatives, including those believed to be carcinogenic and are banned from human foods like BHT, BHA, Ethoxyquin, Propyl Gallate.

If you can read that and then open a can or bag of food for your pet and feed it tonight, you have a stronger stomach than I do!

That’s why I now cook for my dog. I know exactly what he’s eating and that it is good quality, nutritious and safe (as safe as any of our food is these days). The added benefit is that it’s even less expensive! I watch for specials, especially for meats, and stock up the freezer when I find them, which is often. A lot of meat and chicken is greatly reduced in price when its shelf life is nearing its end, and fine if its cooked or frozen immediately.

I only spend a couple of hours or so once a month cooking up a big batch of food, placing it in small containers with about 3 – 4 meals in each one (he eats twice a day), freezing it until I need it. I add a couple of tablespoons of low-fat plain yogurt to a serving, mix it up and “nuke” it for about a minute to get it warm and delicious for him. He loves it!

Best, he looks terrific, better than he ever did before, his coat gleaming, his eyes sparkling, endless energy, perfect weight and a healthy, happy glow.

This is not a difficult thing to do! There are many excellent recipes available and now there are cookbooks dedicated to pet food recipes, including good quality treats and biscuits that your pet will adore and that you can feel great about giving them. I recommend doing some research first so that you know your pet is getting everything he needs.

Food crisis in Pakistan

The inflation turned out to be 23.34 per cent during the month of December 2008 whereas it was 8.79 per cent in the month of December 2007 last year. The main contributor to this inflation has been the food inflation which stood at 27.92 per cent. Besides, the 32 per cent depreciation of the Pak rupee during July-December 2008 also helped in this exorbitant price inflation.

The increase in food and fuel prices has been an international phenomenon for last few years. As apparent from the table, the food inflation rate has remained higher than overall inflation rate in the country during January 2007 to December 2008. Usually, the poor spend about half of their income on food. As such, the consistent and rapid increase in prices of food items has been directly hurting the poor in developing countries including Pakistan. The sudden rise in food prices can be attributed to various factors but primarily due to increase in production of bio-fuels from food grains and oil seeds by USA and EU. Rising oil prices forced many countries to work for bio-fuels to ensure energy security for their countries. The increase in food prices started in January, 2002 but steep rise took place during January, 2007 to June, 2008. In many countries including Pakistan, food inflation has been higher than overall inflation. Similarly, in EU, the overall inflation was 6 per cent and food inflation was 6.4 per cent in 2006 but in 2007, overall inflation increased to 10 per cent and food inflation to 15 per cent. This price hike led to food riots in some countries while some took stringent measures like banning exports of wheat, rice, etc. and adjusting import tariffs.

The prices of both food grains (wheat, rice, maize, soybeans) and oil seeds (soy beans, rapeseed, sunflower, and cotton seed) started increasing in 2002. Prior to that year, food prices have largely been stable. Global grains production saw an increase of 10.2 per cent and 8.9 per cent during 2004 and 2005 respectively. Despite substantial increase, the demand for food grains continued to increase and so the prices. During January, 2005 to June, 2008, maize prices increased by 300 per cent, wheat prices by 127 per cent and rice prices by 170 per cent.

On the other hand, the production of global oilseed crops increased during 2004-2006. But its prices also increased during January, 2005 to June, 2008. During this period, palm oil prices augmented by 200 per cent and soybeans prices by 192 per cent. The increase in prices of grains and oils were accompanied by a boost in the prices of meat, sugar, citrus, etc.

Many factors like declining dollar, rising energy prices, increased in the cost of production, foreign exchange holding by major food importing countries, ban on exports of certain items by some countries etc. contributed to this exorbitant rise in the prices of grains and oils but many studies recognise bio-fuel production as a major driver of food prices. It is to be noted that bio-fuels comprises ethanol and bio-diesel. Ethanol is produced from sugar crops like sugar-cane or beets and starchy crops such as maize. On the other hand, bio-diesel is produced from vegetable oils (like rapeseed, soy beans oil, sunflower oil) or animal fats. The increased demand for bio-fuels led to increase in demand for maize and soybeans and reduced their supply for food use. The increase in prices of these products forced the people to substitute them with other food items like wheat and rice. This rise in demand for wheat and rice pulled their prices upward around the world. Even in USA, inflation increased by 20 per cent during 2000-2007 which was basically due to increase in prices of maize, wheat and rice by 47 per cent, 26 per cent and 25 per cent respectively.

Increase demand for vegetable oils for bio-diesel led to increase in their imports by major producer of bio-diesel. For example, EU increased the import of vegetable oils from 4.4 to 6.9 million tons during 2000-2007 and also increased the production of bio-diesel from 0.45 to 1.9 billion gallons during 2004-2007. Similarly, imports of vegetable oils in USA increased from 1.7 to 2.9 million tons during 2000-2007 whereas production of bio-diesel increased from 0.03 to 0.44 billion gallons during 2004-2007 in USA.

The increased demand for bio-fuels was driven not only due to its being cheap energy but also due to incentives offered by EU and USA. USA offered a tax credit for blending ethanol of $0.51 per gallon and an import tariff of $0.54 per gallon. Similarly, EU offered $1.0 per gallon tax credit for blenders of bio-diesel. These incentives made it possible for USA to increase bio-diesel production from 0.03 billion gallons in 2005 to 0.44 billion gallons in 2007 by using basically 3.0 million tons of soybeans oils. On the other hand, several EU members have introduced legislation for mandatory blending of bio-fuels and allowed exemption or reduced excise taxes on bio-fuels (EU has a specific tariff of Euro 0.192 per litre of ethanol and an ad-valorem duty of 6.5 per cent on bio-diesel. These measures led to an increase in bio-diesel production from 0.28 billion gallons in 2001 to 1.78 billion gallons in 2007. This was made possible by raising use of vegetable oils for producing bio-diesel from 1.0 million tons in 2001 to 6.1 million tons in 2007. These incentives promoted the use of oil seeds for producing bio-diesel and contributed substantially in raising their prices. The price of soybeans oil jumped from $354 per ton in 2001 to $1522 per ton in June, 2008.

As evident from the above, although many factors contributed in the unprecedented rise in food prices, but the main contributor has been the increasing use of grains and oils seeds for production of bio-fuels in some countries particularly USA and EU. Increased prices of food items led to reduction in purchasing power increase in poverty and slowing down of economic activities. In this regards, following points needs to be given due considerations:

The prices of petrol, wheat, rice, edible oil and fertiliser have come down substantially. For example, petrol prices have been reduced from $147 per barrel to around $40 per barrel, wheat prices from $440 per ton to about $200 per ton, edible oil from $1522 per ton to $585 per ton, fertilisers from $3125 per ton to $1300 per ton by November-December, 2008. The domestic prices of these products in Pakistan need to be adjusted downward in accordance with reduction in international prices. This will substantially reduce the inflation in Pakistan; increase the purchasing power, allows the State Bank to cut down discount rate which would stimulate the economic activities in the countries. Pakistan has recently entered into an agreement with IMF wherein she has committed to bring down inflation to 20 per cent by 30th June, 2009 and to 6 per cent by 30th June, 2010. Unless the reduction in the international prices and so the import prices of petroleum products, wheat, edible oil, fertiliser are accordingly passed on to people, the commitment made to IMF will not honoured. In order to bring down the prices of food items to provide relief to common man, the government has to take some specific steps like banning exports of all food items including vegetables, pulses, fruits as well as eliminating all taxes particularly the import duty and sales tax on food items (as has been done by Turkey, China, Argentina, Sri Lanka, Morocco, etc). Reduction in the petroleum prices will lead to reduction in transportation cost and so the inflation. Allowing import of food items from neighbouring countries will reduce the transportation cost and so the prices. The buffer stock and storage of all food grains and edible oils needed to be enhanced substantially to meet any price fluctuation by increasing supply at the time of price rise as has been done by India. The balance of payment affect of large and expensive food import has been very negative for Pakistan and was one of main factors for $20 billion trade deficit during 2007-2008. Stabilising the Pak rupee exchange rate vis--vis US Dollar which will help in controlling the prices of imported goods. The government needs to stop borrowing from State Bank which is highly inflationary. As the rising food prices mostly affects the urban middle and working class and can lead to socio-political unrest, hence their stability need to be ensured. It is presumed that all those who were previously on the poverty line (one dollar per day per head) would have been pushed below the poverty line due to rise in food prices. Therefore, the schemes of direct cash payments to targeted people need to be expanded as has been done in Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Egypt, Jordon, Syria, etc. The government may also consider “food for work” scheme by initiating a public rate to stimulate the economic activities.

It appears that the era of cheap food has over. As such, the governments in developing countries have to take long term measures to attain the self-sufficiency in the production of food grains and edible oils domestically on sustainable basis so that food security for their countries can be ensured.

Do you have a fish filled acquarium in your home or office? If this was a new purchase, you may have many questions. One of the most common questions asked by new fish owners concerns food. Your first impulse may be to head to your local pet store and purchase the cheapest food available. Yes, this will do, but there is a much better option. That is buying frozen fish food from a trusted online retailer. Wait! Frozen fish food? As a new acquarium owner, you may have never heard of frozen fish food. You may also wonder what the benefits are and how to buy it.

Frozen fish food has many benefits. The greatest benefits it the nutritional value retained. These important nutrients are often lost through the entire process of making and packaging dry fish food. The added nutrients from frozen fish food can increase the energy and color of your fish. Not only do your acquarium fish reap the benefits, but you do too. You will get pride and joy from seeing your fish in their prime, full of energy and color.

You now know the benefits of feeding your acquarium fish frozen food, but how can you buy it? What factors should you consider?

Your acquarium contents. Frozen fish food is available for a wide range of fish; however, you will usually find an emphasis on marine and corals. As previously stated, it is recommended that you buy frozen fish food online, as you are presented with more choices and better prices. You should also get detailed descriptions. However, when in doubt, place a call to the customer service department. They can help ensure you choose the frozen food best for your acquarium fish.

Your acquarium fish size and food size. Since frozen, this fish food usually comes in cubes. For example, a coral food mix may come in 100G cubes, 200G cubes, or 1LB cubes. It is best to opt for the right size. When buying, consider the size of your fish. If not given a choice, frozen fish food cubes can be thawed and cut into smaller sizes.

The online retailer that you make your purchase through. As previously stated, buying frozen fish food online has its benefits. You get a better product selection and prices because there are many retailers to choose from. For your benefit and the benefit of your fish, make your choice wisely. Since you may have questions, ensure there is a customer service phone number or email available. Then, consider price.

Your shipping options. Although it is best to buy frozen fish food online, you must proceed with caution. To keep your food safe and to retain all nutrients, proper shipping is a must. Since the product is frozen, it cannot be shipped like traditional mail. A quality retailer will generally use two-day shipping with FedEx or UPS. Your purchase should be shipped in a Styrofoam cooler and with ice packs.

Your shipping costs. Shipping costs vary greatly online. If you are not careful, it can significantly increase the cost of your purchase. With frozen fish food, you are presented with a unique opportunity. You continue to freeze at home, meaning there is no rush to use the food before it goes bad or starts to produce mold. To save both time and money, opt for an online fish supplier that has flat rate shipping. You pay the same shipping costs regardless of quantity. Stock-up and get a better rate.

You now know how to buy frozen fish food and get the best value for your money, but what about when that food arrives? If this is your first time feeding your acquarium fish frozen food, carefully read the instructions on the package. Although you may find a variance, you should:

Begin thawing your frozen fish cubes twenty to thirty minutes before feeding time. Using hot water to hurry the thawing process is not advised. A constant stream of hot water decreases the freshness and nutritional value. Remember, the nutritional value was one of the benefits of frozen fish food, so don’t wash it away.

Only thaw what you need. Frozen fish food should not be refrozen. This reduces the nutritional value and does pose health risks. Luckily, most fish foods that are frozen come in resealable plastic bags. Grab what you need for the next feeding, set that cube aside to thaw, reseal the package, and put in your freezer immediately.

Food poisioning is initiated when you consume contaminated food or other bacterial affected food. Your symptoms may range from upset stomach to diarrhea, fever, vomiting, abdominal cramps and dehydration. Most such infections go undiagnosed and unreported.

So what are the symptoms?

About 20 organisms can produce food poisoning. Once you eat the food which is contaminated by bacteria, you can find the uneasiness in the stomach. All the bacteria in the stomach will multiply when bacteria gives off toxins. As a result, nausea, vomiting, abdominal cramps and diarrhea occur.Vomiting and diarrhea are the body’s way of eliminating the poison, and most cases of food poisoning run their course without needing medical attention.

The symptoms may vary form case to case but the the majority standard symptoms are vomtings. However symptoms may also include fevers and chills, be as non descript as weakness and exhaustion

Common Sources of Food Poisoning

Campylobacter is the primary cause of bacterial food poisoning in the USA. It causes numerous million cases a year, resulting in hundreds of deaths. The food poisioning is caused because of eating undercooked chicken or the food in contact with raw chicken. The Center for Disease Control estimates that up to 70%-90% of chickens are infected with campylobacter.

Food Poisioning- Preventive steps

Make sure that the chicken is cooked well. When meat is uncooked or undercooked, there can be a lot of distinct kinds of bacteria which can still grow. Some of these might make you sick right away by interacting with cells that make up your stomach. Other bacteria will just keep growing on your meat and make toxins which will make you sick. The under cooked meet or chicken is very risky to the health. The meet, which is cooked well or even over cooked may not cause any harm to health as the bacteria will be killed in the over cooked chicken. Also, when you cook your meat properly, you can refrigerate it securely for longer than undercooked meat.

Temperature: Keeping foods at the proper temperature-especially dairy, eggs, and meats-is very important . To appropriately store foods, keep your freezer set to zero degrees Fahrenheit and your fridge set 37 to 40 degrees.

Eating hygiene food can diminish the probability of causing food poisioning. Be smart about your healthiness and take the required precautions when working with food.

Summary of Food Poisoning

All the symptoms like nausea, vomiting, abdominal cramps and diarrhea are not true cases of Food poisioning . An exact diagnosis can be intractable because the pathogenic organisms are found in dissimilar kinds of food and have unreliable incubation periods. Also, eating a substance and getting sick straight away afterwards is not the normal course for food poisoning. Most people are not concerned that food eaten several days formerly can be the cause of food poisoning. Always be sure to consult a physician when experiencing terrible gastrointestinal symptoms.

What is An All Natural Dog Food?

Whats on your mind when you consider an all natural dog food? Could it be a commercial dog food which has the word natural on the packet? Could it be you think of cooking your own dog food from scratch? Do you consider table scraps to be the ideal diet?

Wrong! None of the above will address your dogs health, Why not?

Well, the commercial dog food starts off with very low grade meat, mostly meat by-products (the better quality going for the higher priced human food), high fat and sometimes euthanased animals, which contain the chemical sodium pentobarbital. Then, to bulk out the already cheap meat, a non-nutritional filler is added. That can be sugar, as theres a world glut of it at the moment, or melamine if you live in China.

Then, to keep the product indefinitely at room temperature a preservative is added.

When you see a packet of dried dog food in the shop, with the slogan preservative free ask yourself this question – how can dried meat be kept indefinitely at room temperature without preservatives? Do you think you wouldnt have heard of a new way to do this, if there was?

So either there is no meat or there is preservative present. Trouble is, the preservatives used are very strong, cause huge health problems and arent allowed in human food.

So commercial dog food can be crossed off as an all natural dog food!.

I see quite a lot of dog experts on the internet advocating you cook your own dog food. Whilst that is hugely better than commercial pet food, its still missing the nutrients that are lost in cooking. Typically these are vitamins and enzymes, both essential for a healthy dog. But other nutrients are altered by cooking. Fat changes during the cooking process from a beneficial food to a harmful one.

So you can cross though this one too, as an all natural dog food.

What about table scraps? That depends so much on the table scraps. If the human food is a good, natural one of lots of raw fruit and veg, with lightly cooked meat, then these table scraps have the potential of being the best dog food out of all three options, as long as there is enough left over to satisfy your dogs nutritional needs.

If, however, your diet is typically fast food with a lot of processed food, then these table scraps will be little better than the commercial dog food.

Yet another cross through.

There is only one all natural dog food and thats the one dogs evolved on. Nothing that mankind has done has improved one iota on that. And considerable decline has occurred.

Dogs have evolved over millions of years on an all natural dog food and it keeps them happy and healthy.

Once you get to grips with the idea of how dogs evolved, duplicating that diet within the constraints of what is available and the limits on your time, is not that difficult. However, there are a few important things you need to know such as:

what food should not be given more than once a week should bones be given what carbohydrates are the best ones and how much are there any fruit or vegetables that shouldnt be given what amino acid is essential to a dogs healthy skin should you supplement the diet how do you convert the diet of an elderly or sick dog safely

When you change the diet of your dog from a commercial pet food to an all natural dog food, there may initially be a de-toxing period. This is normal and natural, but can seem a bit scary to you if you dont understand why its happening and the symptoms. It should be of short duration, depending on your dogs age and level of health.

Dogs digestion is robust. They have evolved on eating raw meat and carrion. They cant cope with preservatives, fillers, high fat or low grade protein, none of which occurs (at least in high proportions) in nature.

Once you have your dog on an all natural dog food, youll find fewer and fewer health problems. Im sure youd be as happy as anyone, to cut your dogs professional health fees.

Now a day’s food allergy becomes a common health problem to all people. It is really horrible experience to face in daily life. Food allergy can affect human body very badly. It can appear with red rashes on skin or sometime even it can take the suffered person to death. Allergic symptoms are generally very easy to identify but sometimes it is not easy enough.

Food allergy very commonly happens due to having eggs for many people even from very childhood. It is very important for the parents to observe what food is not suiting their baby because food allergy can destroy your health day by day. You will not feel comfortable with your daily life. Before giving any food to child the parents should be concerned about the labels of baby food. But if it noticed from the very starting there can be absolute solution as well as treatment of this kind of allergy prescribed by the physicians so that egg will be no more allergy source.

If your family member or members are suffering from any type of food allergy, try to avoid that food in your home very strictly. That will be very safer for the sufferer. Stop to buy that particular product causing health trouble to the family members so that they wont fell that they are missing something in their plates.

Another important food allergy can take place due to having wheat. The same measures have to be taken to stop the cause of allergy. The most rigorous allergy, which can take people to death, is allergy due to having peanuts, which can cause food anaphylaxis. Firstly the parents should be cautious until the child grows mature enough to get the knowledge of being ill because of food allergy. The reminders should be constantly given to them so that they become alert to avoid food, which can cause trouble to their health.

The bad consequences of peanut allergy are severe that people become very conscious about this. Very strictly it is followed that children should not bring any food to schools even. Adults are generally become cautious about this matter of fact because of having continuous problem due to having particular foods. When the person become mature enough he or she should personally consult with the physician so that the exact problems can come out into to be observed.

So it is better to make a diet chart including only the food that don’t cause allergy from any part. If you are no able to identify the symptoms try to consult with the physicians. They will lead you measures to follow. Don’t neglect to maintain unless it will never be cured and thus it will make you sufferer for the entire life.
Now a day’s food allergy becomes a common health problem to all people.
